April didn’t go quite as planned, chess-wise. Life was busy, and I didn’t get to study or play nearly as much as I had hoped. That said, here’s a quick look at my updated ratings.
It’s becoming clear that with a full schedule, I need to adopt a long-term mindset. I can’t expect rapid improvement when I don’t have hours a day to dedicate to the game. Still, steady, consistent effort, however modest, should yield progress over time. I gotta work on being consistent.
The big news: I’ve signed up for my first chess tournament! It’s a three-day event in the second half of May, with a classical 90+30 time control. I didn’t register because I feel prepared; I don’t. I did it to establish a baseline for my current OTB (over-the-board) skills, something to build on as I continue this journey.
