Me on a giant chessboard

Hi there! My name is Tony and I’m an Engineering Manager living in Canada. I recently started playing chess and fell in love with the game. So I decided to create this site to document a challenge I’ve set for myself: can I become good at chess despite starting in my 40s?

I believe that improvement is more possible than commonly assumed. Conventional wisdom suggests that if you don’t start young, your potential is severely limited, but I think it’s worth challenging that notion to some degree. That said, I know this will be a very difficult journey.

Subscribe to follow along and see whether I succeed or fall short with this chess experiment. Either way, I’ll share what works and what doesn’t as I push for radical chess improvement.

My promise to you is to be as candid and transparent as possible throughout this journey. As I learn, I aim to make this site increasingly educational and useful; hopefully, even a source of inspiration for people of all ages to pick up this wonderful game.
